TLDR I cant choose between Oni3 and Oni4 since they're so distinctively unique from each other and love them all the same Oni4's changes made me love the game alot more as an action game compared to its predecessors, the length of the game was staggering but to me, I think they were just compensating for the intense and boring grinding required to progress through the levels "UpgradeUpgradeUpgradeUpgradeUpgradeUpgrade to play fair" (no upgrades = unfair progression) Oni3 was the "you'll get what you get" (everything is fixed and make do to have fun) while Oni4 was just. Oni4 made a huge leap towards its market and looked for a bigger audience and saw it as a MUCH more welcome change to the franchise! It was much faster, more robust, and more. I could not pick Onimusha 3 over Onimusha 4. The gameplay was so simple! Yet really challenging! Although I thought that ive had 8 playthroughs til I couldn't enjoy it anymore I loved every minute of it!
Its in my top 10 list of games that really made an impression on me! I could see the age of Onimusha 3 being a Ps2 game but the game was so well polished and well refined that.
I may have only played Onimusha 3 and 4, not sure if I want to play 1 and 2 due to the "aged mechanics" of those games.
